How many notes should I choose for my first handpan?
Fewer notes mean a "simpler" handpan. A model with 6 to 9 notes is ideal for beginners. All the notes fit together, so you can improvise easily without mistakes.
2. What is the difference between 440 Hz and 432 Hz?
These are two tuning frequencies.
- 440 Hz is the modern standard, perfect if you want to play with other instruments.
- 432 Hz is slightly lower; some find the sound softer and more soothing. It’s a matter of personal preference.
3. Is the handpan difficult to learn?
No. Even without any musical background, you can play within the first few minutes. The notes are chosen so that the instrument is very intuitive.
4. What is the difference between D minor, G minor, and C major?
The difference lies in the emotion and the pitch.
- D minor: The meditation sound. It is deep, earthy, and universal. It is the best-selling and easiest sound to improvise with to find calm.
- G minor: The lyrical sound. It is also melancholic but higher and more ethereal than D minor. Ideal if you like melodies that "sing" with more clarity.
